"In Time" Trailer
"In Time" comes under the thriller sub-genre of crime thriller as it is about a man who steals "time". The trailer contains fast paced music to go with the exciting action shots, such as a car chase. There are very short shots in the trailer to keep the action packed flow. This builds tension and entices the audience. The movie is set in "the near future" containing desirable lifestyles but also has a theme of realism because the main character starts out as very poor and living rough. This may bring an audience that are poor and seeking a better future.

The darkest hour trailer - lily's analysis
The music is a fast moving beat from the start. There is a birds eye view of a city in america to show where it is set, this gets the audience familiar with what could happen in the film. In the bar there is all of the usual things you would have like men women and alcohol. This gets the audience relaxing , because it looks like the people are having a good time and enjoying themselves. To include something like this in out thriller would be useful because its a massive contrast to what happens next where the lights all go off and there is silence. Next, the production titles come up but we normally see them come up with the music and this time they boom on and there is a crackle and some noises you would associate with aliens.
Following are a few snips of the whole city standing outside watching what look like fire balls falling from the sky. The curiousness in their faces make the audience more curious too. This is also a technique we could apply to our thriller because the curiosity makes the audience watch intensely and it plays on their emotions. Next , words pop up and the audience read them quickly to keep up. Things like 'they are not from our world' come up and make these things seem like there could be aliens. The glass smashing make the audience on the edge of their chairs and looking. There are only a few remaining people after the invasions and we want to find out what happens to them and how the film ends.
The trailer doesn't give too much away so it makes them keep guessing. I hope to make our thriller opening mysterious so that people guess whats going to happen constantly. The words 'invisible invaders' make the aliens more scary so it shows that the use of dialogue is very important. The slow motion used following the bullet shows the force field stopping it and pushing it away. The words throughout the trailer show the different phases of the aliens invasion. The way they use devices and technology make the film seem more realistic. There is use of match cuts to keep the camera moving fluently around the characters.
