USED
CLOSE UPS
INCEPTION

We have used many close ups in our film, this is to show the characters emotions, to give us an idea of what they're feeling. We also used them to catch the audience attention, and to make them wonder if this is an important element for the film.CONTRAST OF GOOD AND EVIL
MISSION IMPOSSSIBLE II
Evil shown by the close up of the character, able to see his facial expressions, there is also a darker light showing on his face, to hint to the audience that he is the bad boss guy.

A much lighter shot, and his facial expressions show that he is determined. Also the cut on his cheek shows that he has been in a fight, where the bad guy hasn't, which can give the idea he has people to fight for him.
DEVELOPED
I AM LEGEND

we developed this by changing an original idea such as a cure for a worldwide disease to a chemical formula that can bring destruction to the human race.

In most films the protagonist is male, for example 'THE BOURNE'
films. So we have developed ours to have Lily as our main character, she is seen to not being doing anything but run in our film, but that can just add to the mystery?
CHALLENGED
CONTAGION

We challenged the credits order by putting our title at the end of our film, compared to what most films do. This was to draw the audience in.
THE RESIDENT
Most thrillers are shot at night, because there is a stereotypical view that everyone has a fear of the dark,, which thrillers can use to their advantages. However we have challenged this by shooting ours during the day to show that you can keep up the the suspense and tension just as well as a thriller in the dark

Question 4
Chris is 28 years old. He loves his films and tv programs. HIs favourite show is CSI- Miami, New York etc because he likes the forensic side of the program.
He has a wife and they often go to the cinema together because they both enjoy keeping up with the latest films out in the cinema. Chris is also a graphics designer where he designs characters for new video games, so he is quite techniqual.
The latest film thhat he went to go see and really enjoyed was 'Contagion' a conspiracy/action thriller. The idea that something that serious could actually happen intrigues him. One of his most favourite films of all time is 'The Day After Tomorrow' the conspiracy thriller where a global event happens that could reduce earths population.
However, Chris still loves his action pumped films with the explosions, girls, and ofcourse the car chases, things that really get the adrenaline pumping round his body.
Chris would like 'CHEMICAL-REACTION because it has the adrenaline pumping action, quck pacing and the suspense rises throughout the whole film. He would also like this film because straight away in the first 5 minutes to suspense and tension is rising straight away with the quick pacing, and the enigma code, drawing him to make him want to know whats going to happen. The whole mystery in the films and tv shows really draw him in.
Question 5
Question 6
During the time that we were making and editing our Thriller opening, we used a variety of programs, and equipment to produce our end product.
'Panasonic HDC-SD9'
Apple Macs
Tri-pod
Youtube
Here you can see that this is how we added our annotations to the youtube video.

We made a facebook group so we could easily keep in touch with each other.
Blogger

We used blogger to show all our work.
Final Cut Express
Helped us to edit the film easy.
Question 7
We were unable to upload this to youtube, so we couldn't make any annotations, but we will be using screen shots to show what bit we felt we have improved on during our time of filming in our final piece.
Shot 1

This opening shot on our preliminary is very shaky, this because we didn't use a tripod, but in our actual piece we used it in some parts to keep it steady in places that are meant to be still.
We have also learnt that it is very unprofessional to not use a tri pod because it is very bouncy and the audiences do not always like this because it can make you feel ill.
Shot 2
Looking back at this piece we feel that our matched cuts are far better now from what they were before from this piece. As you can see it is a bit late on opening the doors. We have learnt that the timing in matched cuts are crucial for it to be effective.Shot 3
In this point of view shot we were hoping it to be bouncy, but the timing was all wrong, however, we feel that we have improved on our different shots in time very well, take our P.O.V shot in the van in our ending product.
Shot 4
Again this shot was shaky because we didn't use the tri pod, which can ruin the film.
Also our Mise En Scene wasn't very good because for half of our film, there is an alarm going off, and the other half, there wasn't. In our final product we think that we chose our Mise En Scene a lot better, even though there were some mistakes, but overall, we planned it a lot better.
Shot 5

This shot is too long for the audience, we have learnt that you cannot have a long shot in a film because the audience will get bored. We learnt in our final piece that a shot that was too long, made our film seem to go on for quite a while and the audience would get bored. So on our editing day we managed to cut it down a fair bit and add extras into this particular shot which made it seem that more was going.
Shot 6
We learnt that the framing of a shot is very important. The character has to be in the middle of the shot because if they are not then the shot looks akward and unusual. We think we had a very good shot of framing it just right in our end piece, where Ollie is taking a sample of the chemical and Mr Bennett in sight but in another room.
Our planning overall in contrast between our preliminary and final piece, has improved a lot, we were very well planned for our storyboard, filming dates. especially when the unexpected snow came along, we felt we dealt with it well. It was just a shame that the planning didn't go as well towards the end of the deadline.
We found that our research into the genre of the types of thrillers for our storyboard went quite well, our planning for it was very successful, we got our results very quickly and were able to choose a genre easily. Our preliminary helped us a lot, we decided to stick to a similar line to what our practice task was for our final. so our initial idea was already out there for us to use, all we had to do was to develop it even more.
Filming was the most fun in this task, and one that we thought went reasonably well, we planned it all out very well. We got Mr Bennett's permission, to use the chemical equipment and asked if he would take part in the film. this was all in good time, we also planned to use Lily's Dad's van all in good time and managed to get permission for the sports hall. It was difficult to do anymore filming becasue of the sudden snowy weather we had, so we decided to get rid of some shots because we simply couldn't film anymore.
Throughout this whole task our confidence in the equipment we used has definately developed, especially on our editing day. Our skills on Final Cut improved a fair amount, also our skills on youtube, especially on the annotating side.
